The Beautiful Flux

In our lives I believe that there is a place we can live in called the beautiful flux. This is a place where we can live in harmony with our environment and the objects around us. Things have an order to them, but they are not always perfect and that is a good thing. With perfection we have stagnation and life doesn’t flow as it really wants to for us. This is a place we can happily rest in, play in and invite others to share in. This is the beautiful flux.

This means that life flows through us and to us with different seasons and at different times. It means that we have cleared away the things that no longer serve us, but we are ready if we encounter things that challenge us in the future. We have an order in our homes that creates comfort, ease and beauty without being stuck in one state.

The home that I live in with my husband and 11 year old son is one of beautiful flux. For example, this past weekend we decided to paint our office and also paint an accent wall in our living room. At the same time we decided to change the light fixture in the office as well as change all of the outlets to match and modernize them. With this came some temporary chaos, or flux. There were boxes and papers and paintbrushes, ladders and tools and more all about the house. I decided to wait until the end of our project to do any major cleaning or tidying of the area.
