Your Welcoming Home
Thank You Notes #65

“I live in my own little world. But its ok, they know me here.”

We sang to my dad on Saturday to wish him a happy 80th birthday. As he blew out the candles with ease, my heart filled with appreciation. I feel so lucky I can still be in his presence, give him a hug, and wish him a happy day.
As we welcomed my parents, brother, and sister-in-law into our home for the party, it felt like coming home. We gathered to celebrate not only my dad’s life but also to enjoy each other’s company once more.
Today I want to share a thank you note to my dad:
Dear Dad,
It felt surreal to celebrate your 80th birthday with you. I look back on all of our adventures together in life and I feel love in my heart.
I remember riding on the front of your motorcycle and jumping over dirt hills when I was a little girl. What a thrill ride! It gave me joy to play around in the sawdust piles you still create with your beautiful woodwork.
The sparkle lights up your eyes when you talk about your latest projects, hopes, and dreams. Never stop dreaming of where your creativity will take you!
Thank you for always inspiring me to wake up early, show up, and do my very best work just like you still do every day.
With love, your daughter,
Trista
As we chatted on our patio over an early dinner, those moments felt sacred in my heart. We never know when we will go to our ultimate home, back to our soul family. Our time here on Earth is undetermined but we have the power to use every moment and fill it with joy.
Hold on to the minutes you have with each other. They slip through the day like the light breeze touching a tree’s leaves.
